Welcome to Birch Class

Teachers: Mrs Storer and Mr Marchant

TAs: Mrs Williams and Mrs Rogers

Welcome to Year 4. We are a wonderful, enthusiastic class that is full of curiosity!

Each half term, we share topic webs and curriculum letters to keep you informed about your child’s learning journey. These give an overview of the themes and key skills your child will be exploring in class. We love it when families get involved, so if you’re able to talk about the topics at home or share your own knowledge, skills, or experiences — whether through your job, hobbies, or interests — we’d be delighted to hear from you. Your contributions help bring learning to life and make it even more meaningful for the children. Attachments to these are included at the bottom of this page.

PE days: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Homework: The Homework menu is included as an attachment at the bottom of this page. Please continue to support your child’s reading and mental fluency (times tables in particular) as much as you are able.

Daily reading and regular times tables practice play a crucial role in supporting children’s progress and confidence across the curriculum. Reading at home helps to build fluency, deepen understanding, and develop a rich vocabulary, which are essential foundations for learning in every subject. Similarly, knowing times tables securely allows children to tackle more complex mathematical concepts with ease and accuracy. This is especially important in Year 4, where children take part in the statutory Multiplication Tables Check at the end of the year. A few minutes of focused practice each day can make a significant difference, helping children to feel well prepared and to achieve their very best.

Here are some useful websites to help with your learning.
