My background as a group leader in pharmaceutics brings experience with planning, analysis, and compliance, and I also have prior governance experience in the voluntary sector (including as Chair). When my children both attended the school in 2019 I became a parent governor to help transition OOSC from charity into school hands. Since then I’ve held a variety of roles, through joining Anglian Learning, school re-development and recruitment, and a successful OSTED inspection. I currently represent Inclusion/SEND, PE & Sports, as well as Co-Chair of the LGB as a recently re-appointed Trust governor.

Laura began her teaching career in a Middle School (years 5 to 8). She was seconded to the University of Cambridge as a Lecturer and Tutor on Primary and Middle Years Teacher Training Programme for five years and having completed her NPQH in 2011, she took on the Headship of a Hertfordshire Middle School. This led to working as an Executive Headteacher across two Middle Schools and in 2017 leading the transformation of the two middle schools and the upper school to create one all-through school. Laura’s Masters in Education focused on leading teaching and learning and she is particularly interested in the role of quality of talk and its impact on educational outcomes, including talk in the home.

I am a Commercial (non-contentious) Solicitor with over 15 years in-house practice experience, including working for arm and the University of Cambridge.
I joined as a Parent Governor in October 2022 but have been a parent at our lovely school since 2012, with my youngest child currently in Year 5.
My main focus on the Local Governing Board is Stakeholder Liaison. This includes supporting the school in ensuring we have meaningful engagements with pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community. Understanding their needs and views helps us to make the best decisions about our school, and ultimately improve our pupils’ education, wellbeing, and outcomes.

I have been working as a Global Teacher Training Manager at Macmillan Education since 2020, having previously worked as a Product Marketing Manager at Cambridge University Press. Prior to working in publishing, I was a Director of Studies at Regent Language Schools in Cambridge for around 5 years, having taught English as a foreign language in several places around the world, including a 4-year stint in Surabaya, Indonesia.
I’m passionate about ensuring all students progress and all teachers have a consistent work-life balance.
