In Geography we aim for children to develop their curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. We want children to develop a strong interest in their own surroundings as well as those of contrasting and diverse places.  Our Geography lessons, be they based in and around Stapleford, Cambridgeshire or further afield, equip children with the understanding of the relationships that exist between humans and their ever-changing environment.

Geography Home Learning Ideas

Due to the everywhere and everything nature of geography you can help develop your child’s learning about this subject at home. Here are some ideas:

• Watch CBBC’s Newsround and discuss where, why and importance of topics
• Get children to plan trips – how to get there, what will we see on the way, how long will it take, speed limits, other possible routes
• Have world maps and atlases at home – find location of football teams, sport teams, famous people, surf spots, capital cities
• Subscribe to magazines such as a National Geographic or The Week Junior
• Keep a family scrap books of places visited
• Look, watch, record and discuss the area, country and world around us
• Read books about different areas of the world or features of our world.
